Where Efficiency Meets Excellence
Airflow air polishing provides a modern, minimally invasive solution for plaque and stain removal. It is widely preferred over traditional cleaning methods for its effectiveness, safety, and comfort:
- Delivers superior removal of stains and biofilm even in hard-to-reach areas such as pits and fissures, under bridges, and around orthodontic brackets. Achieve brighter smiles faster with reduced chair time.
- Uses ultra-fine particles with low hardness, ensuring very low abrasion. This makes it gentle on dentine and soft tissues unlike traditional ultrasonic tips and hand scalers.
- By first eliminating soft deposits and stains, airflow reduces the need for aggressive ultrasonic or manual scaling. Clinicians gain better visibility and can precisely target any remaining calculus, improving comfort and minimizing surface damage.
- Enhances patient comfort with heated water and a smooth, non-invasive technique no vibrations, excessive heat, or unpleasant noise associated with conventional cleaning methods.
- Reduces operator fatigue, as there is no need to apply pressure or perform repetitive movements across multiple angled surfaces like with traditional polishing.
- Highly recommended for implant maintenance, as airflow cleans effectively without altering or roughening implant surfaces. It is also safe for restorations and dental appliances.
Switching to a subgingival handpiece with single-use tips is the way to go when dealing with remaining periodontal pockets. The combination of erythritol powder and 0.3% CHX is the best match, as it is not only a thorough non-residue cleaning but it is also mild to the subgingival tissue and prevents biofilm regrowth.
The tips are designed with pre-marked depth indicators, allowing for accurate placement and better control during treatment.
Periodontal Treatment
Specially Designed Tips
- The PT-B features anatomically designed tips, allowing easy access to all areas of the mouth, regardless of probing depth
- A wide range of tips is available, including titanium-coated ultrasonic options that are gentler on dentine due to their softer nature compared to stainless steel enhancing patient comfort
- Long shank, diamond-coated tips are ideal for refining overhangs and correcting root surface irregularities, helping create a smoother, more cleansable environment
Implant Maintenance
Airflow air polishing is an effective solution for cleaning implants and managing peri-implantitis:
- The powder’s ultra-low abrasiveness allows safe cleaning of polished titanium and porcelain surfaces without risking surface roughness
- Subgingival airflow powders fully dissolve, leaving no residue behind unlike conventional prophy pastes that may leave particles and cause irritation
- Fast and easy to use, helping improve clinical efficiency
- For peri-implantitis, rotatable subgingival airflow nozzles gently remove biofilm without damaging implants or tissues, promoting a clean environment for healing.
Different Powders for Different Applications
Erythritol + CHX powder is among the least abrasive options available, with an ultra-fine particle size of just 14 microns. It also plays a beneficial role in managing bacteria associated with periodontal disease and dental decay.
Erythritol is a natural non-caloric sweetener with anticariogenic properties. S.mutans and other bacteria that cause cavities cannot metabolize this sugar and are less able to survive when it is present. Its efficacy is increased by the addition of 0.3% chlorhexidine, which not only has an anti-adherent effect, but also contributes to the killing of microbial agents. These two factors help to control the biosfilm formation.
It is fully water-soluble, leaving no residue behind, making it safe for both clinical use and the environment.
Patient Education
With confidence, clinicians can disclose plaque knowing it can be effectively removed within minutes.
Visualizing plaque plays a very encouraging role in educating the health of the patient since it gives a clear demonstration of the oral health status which the patient can easily understand. When the patient has the opportunity to see the biofilm, they become more interested and motivated to remove it – a clear example of the phrase ‘seeing is believing’.
Without airflow air polishing, completely cleaning the restorative margins brackets grooves, and soft tissues is almost impossible, which often makes disclosure less practical. Air polishing turns the tables and converts oral hygiene instruction into a more understandable, easier, and most effective experience.

Endodontics
- Safe access preparation: Use diamond-coated ultrasonic tips to locate canal orifices in calcified pulp chambers. This gentle approach significantly reduces the risk of perforation.
- Use ultrasonics to remove caries and debris: Endodontic ultrasonic activation helps improve efficiency during cavity and canal preparation.
- Activate irrigant with endodontic ultrasonics: Irrigation activation tips are very thin, long, and non-cutting. When passively placed in the canal, they transmit ultrasonic energy through the irrigant, enhancing cleaning effectiveness.
- Airflow for removing excess obturation material: Airflow with sodium bicarbonate quickly cleans the pulp chamber after obturation without unnecessary removal of tooth structure, ensuring a clean surface before final restoration.
